The Gift, by Marc Andreini, a California surfboard shaper whose experience spans from the 60’s to the present, is a 221 page, 75,000 word, 8 1/2” x 11” book with over 100 never before seen images plus a handful of surfing’s most iconic shots.

The Gift is a collage of stories which covers the entire arc of the evolution of the surfboard: from its origins in Hawaii to the modern world. It promises to take you on a journey that parallels and sometime collides with the surfboard industry. Along the way Andreini details what he has learned from the ancient Hawaiians, Tom Blake, Bob Simmons, George Greenough, and the innovators and madmen of surfing. The Gift also includes testimonials and philosophy from 19 of surfing’s most prestigious and prolific pioneers and practitioners who share their personal stories, photographs, and surf culture musings.
